I agree with bebu SB - you did well in raising legitimate questions. Hopefully they'll make her think.

i know of several experiences of couples who got married against the unwanted advice of the busybodies at the hall.
and i am not talking about a sixteen year old girl marrying a seventeen year old boy either!
these were people way over 30. .
If being engaged is as good as being married then why you can't sex????????

could anyone confirm or deny if the sisters code of dress still prohibits the wearing of trousers?.
There was a sister at my last dumbhall that had a huge behind. The other sis' were so jealous they were always criticizing the way she dressed. And she better not show her little bitty cleavage or they'd really hit the roof. Jealous wenches, all of them.
I told her they were just mad cause their husbands were always watching her go to her seat. Mine too, most likely. So what! These people act as though JW men aren't just like almost every other male of the species. Love, love, love to look at women.

Do they have underwear inspections?Perhaps they have the sisters stand on their heads?
I see London, I see France, I see ________ underpants.
Blondie - ROFLMAO
i stumbled upon this site by accident and spent the past several days just reading through the forums.
i must say, i'm both horrified and fascinated at what i've read so far.
although several members of my family are jw's, i have never known much about the religion and quite honestly, have never really gotten to know these family members well.
Welcome to the board Gwen! For someone not too familiar with the Witnesses you seem to have things pretty much figured out (Good for YOU!). They could never draw someone like you in - too much critical thinking, too many questions, they don't tolerate that.
Most of us who came in while adults were gradually indoctrinated. It's a process (i.e. brainwashing). Many of us woke up because of nagging doubts about the doctrines and flip-flopping rules and regs. and failed prophecies.
Though some people are disfellowshipped for immorality like myself, they really wanted to get out anyway. Just to live a 'normal' life.

garybus - you crack me up!
i will be, i just cant decide where.
im trying to tie it all into my vacation, but i might just have to drive a ways for a 1 day picket within my region.
some locations i have considered are amarillo tx, cleveland oh, duluth ga, biloxi ms, columbia sc, huntsville al, little rock ar, and possibly johnson city tn, but kinda doubtful there.
Topics for placards:
"Learn the Truth about the troof ... go to www.jehovahs-witnesses.com"
"Why does the GB not want you on the web? Is there something there they don't want you to see???"
"Do you know the history behind the Tower? You can find out on the WWW"
"Can loyalty to a billion dollar publishing company get you everlasting life? Find out on the WWW"
etc. etc. etc.
I have never thought about picketing. As a dub, I remember seeing some 'apostates' at the Pontiac Silverdome but was too afraid to read the placards . But I bet some dubs do, not to mention the 'persons of interest'. And you help warn the rest of the public when you get media coverage.
If anyone is doing it in MI this year, let me know. I'll at least stop by and see ya , I'll bring refreshments too.
where in the bible does it say that there will be a group of people living on a paradise earth after armageddon?
where dies it say that only one group of people will have the honors of living there?
where does it say that those who make it thorugh armageddon will be allowed to marry and have children but those who are resurrected will not?
Twisted scriptures and unfounded interpretations. WT classics!!!
I also came to the conclusion that it was unfair to raise my kids in that religion when they would probably at some point in life decide that it sucks and want out. I wasn't prepared to disown them under any circumstance, no matter what they do. I figure that even if my family never talks to me again I will live.Moanzy
I agree with Moanzy - I couln't see myself keeping my kids locked down like the dubs want you to. After the college thing, I decided for myself that I wanted my children to have a life - NOW!
But the big D came as a result of severing ties with my soon to be ex. by committing the big A - he ratted me out - they asked, I confessed and the rest is history.
Sometimes we do things we otherwise wouldn't do just to break free. That was the case for me. The doubts were there but I wasn't certain that it wasn't the truth then. I just really wanted out.
